Have y’all ever seen that SpongeBob episode when he wakes up so enthusiastically and says, “Good morning world and all who inhabit it?” If you have kids, I bet you have (and if you have, just forget the little part where he falls down the stairs right after, m’kay?). That’s how I feel today (except the falling down the stairs part). Cause we’re headed to St. Simons today! We’re renting the cutest little shingled house. I’ll ask the owner if it’s okay if I share pics, and if so, I’ll put some on Insta later this week. But it’s adorable. One of W’s main requirements is that it is within biking distance to the Village, which is the picturesque “downtown” area of SSI that is by the pier, and it is.
It seems like this summer was so busy and stressful for some reason. This vacation has come just in the nick of time.
It starts back next Friday. How is it that both the boys are ready to go back, but I’m not? We went back to school shopping this past weekend. And-ooh! Only bought one thing in Nordy’s Anniversary Sale, and it was a Patagonia pullover for W which was too good a deal to pass up and we justified as “back to school” shopping. Even though it’s a sweater, as mild as our winters are, he’ll use it as a jacket mostly. Here it is:
When do you guys go back?
I mean, I’m not obsessing over the Nordstrom’s sale or anything, but if I were, this bag would be what I would want:
It’s $284, normally $428.
Probably to a lot of y’all, that’s not a lot of money. It’s pretty much the entirety of my car payment, though, so I can’t drop that much money on a purse, unless I have a significant gift card or something. But still….gorgeous.
I was bemoaning how much some of those handbags cost to my boys the other day, and W asked me, “Mom, how mad would you be if I just added one of those bags to your cart and just bought it? Scale of one to ten.” The boys ask me this question all the time (How mad would you be…scale of one to ten?)
I realized I would just be secretly happy. Maybe I should buy the dang purse.
I guess y’all (my regular folks, anyway) have noticed that I kind of stink at social media. I’ve never really gotten into it, ever. I’m even terrible at texting. Is that a classic introvert trait? Lord, I sound like a crotchety old lady. But, I’m trying to get better. I’ve been posting on Instagram and Facebook a little more regularly, so, you know, check it out. Links are in the sidebar 🙂
I know I’ve mentioned before how grateful I am for the local services in our little town (see here for how our volunteer fire department went over and beyond for us) but our local police department also has a service where they will check on your house, twice a day, while you are gone on vacation. So thankful to know they will have a watchful eye while we are gone! Our police department is always reaching out and participating in our community. Feeling grateful to live in a community like ours.
My position at work requires that I make some tough decisions sometimes, and sometimes it seems like these come one right after another…to the point that I almost forget that we all need a little bit of grace. Hoping this week I can step back, breathe, and reset my threshold for allowing grace.
Hope you all have a fabulous week! I’ll be out the rest of the week, enjoying the island with my boys!
