Hey guys! I’m sorry for the lack of posting Monday- technical difficulties with the blog, but I’m glad to be back today! I’m so excited that our next big project will be the mudroom! You guys know how much I love having that little drop space for all of our stuff, but in my mudroom now I have some serious storage issues. It’s cute, but not super functional. I’ve been wanting to tackle the “functional” part of this room for a long time.
Well, two things have made me move this project move up. First, the boys started school last week, which means that we’re dealing with the barrage of school papers, backpacks, etc., and the mess is already driving me crazy. And when the pups were in the house while we were awaiting our fence being built, they literally ate the molding off the wall in the mudroom. So it needs to be repaired.
As you can imagine, I’m really upset at having to redo this room. Sigh. Sometimes life is really hard 😉
Anyway, I thought today I’d show you some images of what I am picturing in that room. I am going for bright and cheery, with of course a farmhouse flair. I’ve been pinning mudrooms on my Pinterest boards like crazy (click the link to follow me!). Then I’ll tell you what’s going to happen in this little room!
As you can see, I’m drawn to color and pattern. The mudroom is the perfect place in your home to get a little splashy with both!
Picture pink buffalo check wallpaper with white wainscoting, a dash of aqua ’cause I love it so, and a new light fixture.
Oh yeah, some storage. I’m still investigating how I’m going to do that best. We haven’t had shoe storage in here for a long time, since the dogs first ate our basket, and it’s actually worked out okay. The boys are putting their shoes in their rooms, but I’d like to have a place for guests to kick off their shoes if they want to, and for wet/dirty boots. Also- a place to sort the piles of papers that come through. Something that is actually functional.
I can’t wait to make this room super cute-er and more functional!
Don’t forget to pin this post! 🙂
