*Guys, I apologize that this didn’t publish yesterday- our internet went out!*
Oh my gosh, for anyone who thinks that interior decorating is confusing, let me just say- designing anything outdoors is ten times harder!
For some reason, I am having the hardest time picking a fence stain. We are about 3 months behind staining is since we had it installed because I just can’t make up my mind. I’m driving Michael absolutely bananas.
I go back and forth between wanting something really bold and dramatic- like dark gray or black- to wanting to keep it natural. The natural wood is pretty, but black would look sooooo striking with our gray house with black trim (especially those chunky black columns)!
But I’m not sure about black pickets. Would that look too goth?
Then sometimes I think a darker brown would be pretty too! And of course, white is a beautiful, and coastal inspired, classic that I love!
The issue, of course, is that this is a BIG decision. The fence is so big that whatever we choose, the stain is going to cost a ton of money, not to mention the work involved. So there’s a lot of pressure to get this decision right the first time.
Something else to think about is that I’d really like to paint the house white in the next couple of years, and add some cedar shakes to the gables in the front of the house- which would really change how the house looks. If I stay on that design course, then it would make sense to just go with either natural or a darker brown or white. But black would still be pretty striking!
I mean, can you imagine at dark gray or black with some beautiful climbing roses over them?….
Picking a fence stain- my favorite options!
Natural wood fence stain
Dark gray/black fence stain
Brown fence stain
Can you see why I’m having trouble picking a favorite? They’re all so pretty! Gah! Help me decide!
Update:- Here’s what we chose– and I’m sharing all about a HUGE mistake we made while DIY’ing this project!
