My favorite kitchen cabinet organizers
Whitmor Rattique Storage Tote
These baskets– these are what have kept my kitchen (and library, incidentally) organized. If I had a “Best Of Avenue Laurel”, these would be the winners. Great for kitchen cabinets, especially lowers, that aren’t custom and are just kind of open and difficult to organize like ours are. Why do I love them so much?
- they are lightweight but very sturdy
- they come in tons of colors
- three different sizes make it super easy to organize whatever weird space you are dealing with (see our kitchen cabinets as an example)
- they look like wicker or rattan but are much sturdier. Our have held up flawlessly.
Here’s the link to the largest size.
Here’s the link to the medium.
Here’s the link to the small.
Uses: tupperware storage (we use the large baskets for tupperware), tools/small appliances (we put our tools in a large basket), small kitchen items (especially the small baskets- that’s what we use ours for), first aid kits/medical supplies (we use the medium baskets for that), extra grocery bags
See the kitchen cabinet organization post for more ideas for how we use these baskets for storage
Pot Lid Organizer
I bought four of these and couldn’t believe how life changing it was to have our pot lids stored up and off of the floors of the cabinets. Super easy to install and holds the lids securely.
One nice thing: our cabinet doors are shallow, and the screws are shallow too. Nice not to have to worry about them coming through the cabinets to the other side of the cabinet door!
Uses: Saving your sanity by not having to pick up sliding pot lids every time you open the cabinet door
Over the Cabinet Door Organizer
Are you noticing a theme with using the doors for storage/organization?
The SimpleHouseware Over the Cabinet Door Organizer is such a smart way to use what could be wasted space. I use it to hold cutting boards, which I never had a good space for before. But you could you it to hold all kinds of stuff- foil and cling wrap and sandwich bags, etc.
I actually just mounted ours directly to the door- I figured that over the door would drive me crazy- and all of the necessary hardware for either option is included.
Uses: Storing muffin pans/cookie sheets, cling wrap/foil/sandwich bags, storage in bathroom and laundry room. These things can pretty much be mounted anywhere that extra storage is needed.
Silverware Organizer
We have now had two bamboo silverware drawer organizers that have bit the dust- the insides of them have just come apart, so currently our spoons and forks and knives are just living together. Mass hysteria. I’m reminded of Ghostbusters “cats and dogs, living together…”
Anyway, I really struggled with whether or not to order another bamboo or wood organizer versus a plastic one. The bamboo ones are just so much prettier.
I bet you can guess which one won.
This one is on its way to us.
It has fantastic reviews, and I’m hoping that since it’s expandable, that will help- I can expand it to the full width of the drawer. I think that maybe since the others were able to slide around, that might have weakened them. Maybe?
Lazy Susan
I absolutely love lazy Susans! I just think they are fantastic for organization, plus they can be such fabulous decor items as well if you can find the right piece.
Well, not to be braggy, but…
this one is a great price for two, packs a punch for storage and organization since it is tiered, and I think, depending on what you store on it, would look so cute left out on the counter or even a breakfast room table if you choose to.
Uses: storing spices and condiments. I would also use it on a breakfast room table, maybe to store condiments on the bottom and some pretty flowers or centerpiece on top.
Food storage
I was a public health nurse for many years, and proper food storage (especially in case of some kind of emergency where long term food storage is essential) is really important to me (you learn all kinds of fun stuff in public health). So years and years ago I invested in these:
They are pricey. Which made me a little hesitant to include them. But I honestly couldn’t recommend another brand of food storage container, because OXO is really the best. For anything that I want to store, although I have other brands too, my OXO’s are what I turn too. I’ve had them for years and years and they are still perfect, and food that I store in them always stores absolutely fresh. Plus, the shape make it really easy to keep them organized.
Here’s the link for the set, which is what I have.
I hope this list is helpful! Do you have favorite kitchen cabinet organizers?
